Wrangell-St. Elias is one of the least-visited National Parks in the country, yet has the largest collection of glaciers and mountain summits over 14,500 feet tall. Our direct shuttles to McCarthy, Alaska, near the center of the park, depart directly from your accommodations in Anchorage in the morning.

On this ten-hour trip, you will see some of Alaska's most impressive mountains, rivers, and glaciers, while traveling on Alaska's scenic Glenn Highway, Richardson Highway, and the McCarthy Road. There are plenty of stops for pictures and stretching the legs, including a break at the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park Visitor Center near Copper Center. Arrival time in McCarthy is 6:00 pm. A minimum stay of at least three nights in McCarthy or Kennicott is suggested.

The Anchorage-McCarthy shuttle will transport you through 503 km (313 miles) of Alaska wilderness, to the McCarthy footbridge, in about 10 hours.

Along the way, you can view numerous glaciers and some of the highest peaks in the Chugach and Wrangell Mountains. Enjoy stops for taking pictures, lunch, and a visit to the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park Visitor Center in Copper Center.

Trips on the McCarthy road are always an adventure. This 60-mile gravel road is built on an old railroad bed. Arrival time at McCarthy footbridge is usually around 6:00 pm, but will vary depending on group size, and road conditions.
